  • Always tries to be the best they can be?

  • Shows respect for other people and knows the importance of fair play?
We’re looking for truly incredible individuals whose personal stories will inspire millions of people watching the Olympic Torch Relay – in their community, across the UK and around the world.

Ordinary people doing extraordinary things. From any walk of life, anywhere in the UK.
We need you to help us find them.
BTC's 150 word nomination for Godwin to carry the 2012 Olympic Torch
Written by Niki Doyle, approved by the committee and submitted on behalf of BTC.

Passion, commitment, fun, dedication, just a few of things that Godwin has brought to the sport of tennis in our town.  For more than twenty years he has been our torch bearer for tennis, fair play, junior development and community spirit in Beaconsfield.

Single-handedly turning a small tennis school into a proud academy that has produced countless county stars and hundreds of social players that have continued to play into adulthood spreading his tennis legacy throughout the UK and abroad.

Godwin is more than a tennis coach, he is a role model and an inspiration to everyone who meets him.  His enthusiasm for the sport he loves is infectious, his drive to get the best out of every pupil is unstoppable.

Godwin truly is an ambassador for tennis, for Beaconsfield and for Britain and we can’t think of a more deserving person to carry the 2012 torch.
